Objectives
    e-ASEM supports and has a role in:
  Conducting collaborative research projects and practical activities among the ASEM member countries with regard to ICT skills, e-learning and the culture of e-learning in lifelong learning

Sharing recent research products and technological trends in ICT skills and e-learning among ASEM member countries

Initiating an online research network that allows ASEM LLL university partners to continuously exchange how best to develop ICT skills and e-learning, relate to academic and practical experiences

Establishing an online community (http://asem.knou.ac.kr) for sharing information, knowledge and human resource development

Developing an E-learning Academy by sharing and disseminating best practices through the online exposition of e-learning contents and solutions

Nominated Korea National Open University as the coordinator school for e-ASEM network, which is among the ASEM LLL Hub five research networks

February, 2006
Established plans and activity areas for the e-ASEM network

November, 2006
Launched a website for the e-ASEM Network (http://asem.knou.ac.kr)

September, 2006
Hosted an ASEM Colloquy (78 participants from 38 countries) and formed working groups for each e-ASEM activity

October, 2007
Hosted an e-ASEM Network Follow-Up Meeting (38 participants from 18 countries)

December, 2007
Organized the e-ASEM advisory committee (Chairperson: Professor Bowon Kim, Secretary General: Sunwoo Lee, members: 9 other KNOU professors)

Revamped the e-ASEM website

November, 2008
Hosted an e-ASEM Network Meeting and workshops in parallel with Asia-Europe Conference on Lifelong Learning, Beijing China (16 participants from 8 countries)

Hosted an e-ASEM Network Meeting and workshop at the annual ASEM Conference on Lifelong Learning in Bangkok, Thailand (26 participants from 12 countries)

August, 2010
Hosted an e-ASEM Network Meeting in Phuket, Thailand (27 participants from 9 countries)

November, 2010
Published “e-ASEM White Paper: e-learning for lifelong learning” (6 participating countries: Denmark, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Slovakia)

December, 2010
- Conducted a cross-country analysis on the basis of the White Paper in e-learning for lifelong learning (Malaysia)
- Hosted an e-ASEM Network Meeting and workshops at the annual ASEM Conference on Lifelong Learning in Hanoi Vietnam (300 participants from 30 countries)

March, 2011
Conducting a collaborative research under the title: “e-Learning in ubiquitous society” (Denmark, Japan, Korea, Latvia, Thailand, Malaysia, Slovakia), and carrying out the Second round of the White Paper on e- learning for lifelong learning (UK, Philippines, Latvia)
